Dr. Seely has been practicing psychiatry since 1980. Educated at Princeton University and Jefferson Medical College, Dr. Seely is Board-certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, ABAM-certified in Addiction Medicine, Board-certified in Forensic Psychiatry and Board-certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He also serves as a consultant to the Florida’s Impaired Professionals Programs. Dr. Seely has been the Medical Director at Transitions in North Miami Beach, Florida since 1999. Dr. Seely’s greatest asset is perhaps his ability to empathize with his patients and provide clear, consistent and compassionate guidance in their early recovery efforts. A brilliant and humorous educator, Dr. Seely is able to impart his knowledge in a manner consistent with humility and dedication to spreading the message of recovery.

Dr. Ari Kedem, Ph.D.

Dr. Ari Kedem, PhD comes to TRP to run various types of groups each week. He runs age specific psychodramatic groups which include his expertise in Cognitive Reframing Therapy, Family therapy, Psychopathology, Anger Management, Addictions Counseling. Dr. Kedem has received a B.A. from St.Thomas University, A M.A. from University of Miami, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He is a registered Drama Therapist and a certified Hypnotherapist. He has been practicing for the past 33 years.

Danielle Collins, R.N.

Danielle Collins has been the Charge Nurse at Transitions since December 2000, and has worked in the field of addictions, and Dual diagnosis disorders for over 17 years. Danielle Graduated From Miami Dade College, and plans to continue her Nursing education; by pursuing her Masters Degree in the Near Future. Danielle is a key member of our treatment team; who works closely with our clients, the Psychiatrist, and the Medical Director; to ensure all aspects of our Clients care are thoroughly integrated. Danielle stresses the importance for medication compliance, as well as her enthusiastic belief that even though the past cannot be changed; the best of our Client’s future is yet to come.

Marian Bach, LMHC, CAP

Marian Bach, LMHC, CAP

Marian Bach, our director, is a LMHC and a CAP. She has been chosen as a Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association. Marian has been working in the field of addictions, and the problems that arise with that disease, since 1996 when she came to work at TRP. Marian is a Primary Therapist as well as the clinical and program team leader. Marian holds special certifications in various types of therapy used to treat PTSD, and she runs the nutrition/food program at TRP. This includes teaching clients in recovery how to eat appropriately, as well as helping those with eating issues overcome them. Marian has been with TRP for 17 years. Marian holds a B.Ed. from the University of Miami, a M.S. in Addictions and Mental Health counseling from Nova University, and is a State of Fl. Supervisor for students studying in the fields of Marian’s expertise.

 

Renee Sumner, B.S.

Renee Sumner, B.S.

Renee Sumner is the Director of our Out Patient and Day/Night programs. She is also a Primary Counselor and treats clients in all levels of care. She specializes in solution focused therapy as well as female empowerment, disease concept and education about the 12 Steps. She has been in the field of addictions for 20 years, 17 of them at TRP. Renee graduated from Barry University with a B.S.

 

Pamela Hamilton, LPN, CAS

Pamela Hamilton, LPN, CAS

Pamela Hamilton, LPN, CAS Graduated Bergen Pines School of Nursing in 1986. She graduated from the School for Addiction Studies in 2005 as a Certified Addiction Specialist. She was Certified in Techniques Effective Aggression Management at Memorial Regional Hospital. Pamela is a Nurse/Primary Counselor who has worked at our facility for 10 years. She has extensive experience and expertise with psychiatric clients, behavior modification, and nursing in regards to general nursing and nursing of clients with addiction issues.

 

Alexis Cancemi, LMHC, CAP

Alexis Cancemi, LMHC, CAP, N.B.C.C.H.

Alexis received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University at Albany, State University of New York and her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from Florida International University. She is a licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Addiction Professional and is pursuing further education in Art Therapy. Alexis is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. Alexis worked in both local and federal law enforcement as an officer and an agent and specializes in treating Uniform Personnel struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring issues.

 

Irving Guierre, MBA

Irving Guierre has been the Primary Counselor at TRP for past 11 years. He graduated with a B.S. in Psychology and then pursued and obtained a MBA . He has been a member in good standing of the United States Professional Tennis Association since 1989. He has experience in treating Dually Diagnosed clients and also specializes in teaching meditation and relaxation techniques.

 

Tanya Parnes, M.S.

Tanya Parnes, M.S.

Tanya is a marriage and family therapist working towards licensure. She is currently registered as a Marriage and Family Therapy Intem and Mental Health Counseling Intern with the state of Florida. She has earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Florida, followed by two Master of Science degrees in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastem University and a dual specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling from Barry University. Tanya has worked extensively with a wide range of client populations in both inpatient residential and hospital settings. Tanya works as a Primary Therapist at Transitions Recovery Program, specializing in solution focused therapy with her clients. She facilitates family groups weekly helping clients and loved ones understand the impact of addiction upon the family/relational system and work towards creating change.

 

John Marika, B.S.

John Marika, B.S., C.A.P.

John Marika has been a Primary Counselor and technology specialist with TRP since February 2010. Mr. Marika has an Addictions Studies degree from Miami-Dade College in addition to a B.S. in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Florida. After a successful 30 year technology career Mr. Marika has chose to pursue a new career helping individual’s recovery from the disease of addiction. Mr. Marika is working towards becoming a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAP).

Maria King

Maria King has been the Director of Communications at Transitions Recovery Program since 1996. Maria greets everyone with her warm and inviting smile, while providing emotional and spiritual support to all family members and clients that have come to the program. Maria has been a loyal and dedicated employee for over 17 years and is very well respected in the recovery community. We are happy to have her as a part of our team.
